WEB Mavericks rookie Dereck Lively II ruled out of Game 4 after taking knee to head
Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II was ruled out of Game 3 of the Western Conference finals against Minnesota on Sunday night after taking a knee to the head from Karl-Anthony Towns.
The Mavericks announced the news on Twitter, saying that Lively was "ruled out for the remainder of the game with a head injury."
Lively was injured in the second quarter when Towns inadvertently struck the neck and back of his head with his knee. Lively left the gamea 116-107 Mavericks win that gave them a 3-0 advantage in the series.
Coach Jason Kidd said after the game that he didn't have an update on Lively's condition.
On Monday morning, fellow ESPNer Adrian Wojnarowski reported that tests on Lively's neck came back OK, but his availability for Game 4 remains unclear.
It is great to hear that Lively's injuries are not serious, and we hope that he is able to return to the court soon.
